Description

Semi-whole grain rice of the Balilla x Sollana variety with Calasparra Designation of Origin, grown in south-eastern Spain. Organically grown, this rice retains part of its bran, making it more nutritious than white rice, but easier to digest than brown rice. Ideal for all kinds of recipes: paellas, stews, stir-fries or healthy bowls.

Directions for use

  1. Wash the rice with cold water before cooking.
  2. Cook 1 part rice to 2.5 parts water.
  3. Boil on a high heat for 5 minutes and then simmer for around 35–40 minutes.
  4. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Close the container tightly after use.

Recipe: Semi-wholemeal rice with sautéed vegetables

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 150 g Calasparra semi-brown rice
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 courgette
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 handful of fresh spinach
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

  1. Cook the rice according to the instructions on the packet. Set aside.
  2. Chop all the vegetables into thin strips.
  3. In a frying pan, sauté the garlic and onion in a little oil.
  4. Add the rest of the vegetables and sauté for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked rice and soy sauce and mix well.
  6. Sauté for another 2 minutes and serve hot.
